organizing and performing in cultural events in which music brings diverse people together. For example, I coordinate music for a palliative care organization and an outreach group by creating awareness, by finding events, performers and repertoire and by playing.

helping people who don’t fit prevalent educational patterns to learn and to accomplish their goals and thereby improve the robustness of the cultural landscape. I tutor a variety of ages and levels across a range of topics. It’s a fun way to keep learning myself and gain new perspectives.

combating social alienation. Many people experience unwanted isolation as a result of a variety of circumstances. I believe in fostering a sense of connection on each individual’s own terms without resorting to extroversion. This is not altruism. Sincere connection can stimulate growth and development and benefit everyone. I help organize outreach across generations and with individuals with non-standard social preferences.
